The battery contains plates which are surrounded by water. This water is normally distilled as it has no ions or unwanted chemicals that can erode the plates. Normal tap water speeds up wear and tear on the battery compared to purified water

Distilled Water for Batteries is ultra-pure water used in lead-acid batteries (like inverter, automotive, or industrial batteries). It ensures optimal battery performance and longevity by preventing mineral build-up and internal corrosion.

✅ Why Distilled Water?

Lead-acid batteries require water with no dissolved salts or minerals, which can:

• Shorten battery life

• Reduce charge efficiency

• Cause scaling and corrosion inside the battery

Distilled water is free from:

• TDS (Total Dissolved Solids)

• Ions (Na⁺, Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, etc.)

• Microorganisms and heavy metals

⚙️ Production of Distilled Water

There are two main methods:

1. Distillation Unit

• Boils water, collects vapor, condenses it back to liquid.

• Removes 99.9% of impurities.

• Slow process, high purity.

• Suitable for labs and small battery shops.

2. Deionization / RO + DI System (Industrial Scale)

• Uses Reverse Osmosis followed by Mixed Bed Deionizers (MB)

• Cost-effective for large volumes.

• Produces water with conductivity <1 µS/cm.
